Welcome Messages

From Head of School
Dear APAC Basketball Participants

On behalf of the UNIS Hanoi Community, I would like to welcome you to our school and the 2020 Asia Division APAC Basketball Tournament.

This tournament will provide an opportunity for our participating athletes to showcase their perseverance, teamwork, technical skills and emotional strength – celebrating the culmination of the hard work, commitment and learning of many weeks of training prior to this event. This is a chance for all of you to strive to be your physical best: to tackle, to strategize, to shoot, to score…and to just…keep…going.

The next few days are also an opportunity for you to meet new people, cheer on people you may have competed against before, and further build camaraderie on your own teams. Our hope is that the spirit of sportsmanship prevails during the tournament and that the passion all of you have for this incredible sport drives you to be your very best at all times.

Athletics can bring out the best in us so welcome, enjoy, and get out there on the courts and do what you have been training to do.

Once again, welcome to UNIS Hanoi. We are so pleased to be hosting you.

“Friendships are born on the field of athletic strife and the real gold of competition. Awards become corroded, friends gather no dust.”

Dear APAC Athletes and Coaches,

Welcome to the United Nations International School of Hanoi! It is a pleasure to host tournaments such as this as it gives student-athletes the chance to travel, compete and make new friends from around the world. The schools in APAC value athletic competition so much that we are all willing to give students and coaches days away from class! I encourage you to make the most of this special opportunity both on the court and off of it.

We are all extremely fortunate to participate in a tournament with such a diverse and international population. Please take this opportunity to build relationships and grow together as friends and competitors. My hope is that your participation will awaken your imagination and open your mind to the power of athletic competition as a bridge between cultures.

Please enjoy your time here in Hanoi. Give it your all on the courts and be sure to thank your coaches, the referees and other people behind the scenes who help make tournaments like this possible.

Good luck!
